Studio Policy
Terms & Conditions.
The rules that protect both client and artist — booking, deposits, touch-up pricing, cancellations and aftercare. Please read carefully before placing a deposit.
Last updated · May 2026
1. Booking & deposits
All appointments are confirmed only upon receipt of a non-refundable deposit of 40€. The deposit is deducted from the total cost of your treatment on the day of the session.
Bookings are personal and non-transferable. By placing the deposit, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these terms and conditions in full.
2. Cancellations & rescheduling
- More than 48 hours' notice: the deposit can be moved to a new date within 60 days, once.
- Less than 48 hours' notice or no-show: the deposit is forfeited and a new deposit is required to rebook.
- Arrivals more than 20 minutes late may need to be rescheduled and treated as a late cancellation.
3. Perfecting touch-up — complimentary
Every initial Breath Brows™, Latin Brows, Microblading PhiBrows and Microblading + Shadow treatment is followed by ONE complimentary perfecting touch-up, offered free of charge as part of the Browboutique experience.
The complimentary touch-up MUST be booked and completed between 30 and 60 days after the initial session. Outside this window it is no longer free and is charged as an Extra Touch-Up (see point 4).
The perfecting touch-up is an integral part of the treatment, not an optional extra: pigment retention is only fully assessed after this second pass.
4. Touch-ups & yearly refresh — pricing
- Complimentary perfecting touch-up: free of charge when booked within 30–60 days of the initial session.
- Extra Touch-Up (between 60 days and 5 months from initial session): 100€.
- Yearly Refresh (existing Browboutique clients, within 12–18 months): 250€.
- Refreshes after 18 months from the last session are charged at the full initial price of the chosen technique.
- Touch-ups and refreshes on PMU work performed by another artist are quoted individually after a paid assessment and may not be possible depending on the existing pigment.
5. Treatment prices

6. Medical history — full disclosure
PMU is a minor medical procedure. Before treatment you must disclose your full medical history. This includes ALL medications and supplements you take, with no exception — there is no such thing as 'not relevant'. The list below is indicative, not exhaustive.
- Antibiotics, ibuprofen / NSAIDs, paracetamol; anticoagulants, aspirin, blood thinners.
- Corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, antidepressants, anxiolytics, anti-epileptics.
- Blood pressure medication, insulin, thyroid medication, hormonal therapy, contraceptives.
- Supplements: omega-3, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, fish oil — all of which can affect bleeding and pigment retention.
- Isotretinoin (Roaccutane / Accutane): must be stopped at least 6 months before treatment.
- Topical retinol, tretinoin or retinoid acids: stop at least 6 months before, then avoid on the brow area for the entire healing period.
- Botox or filler in the forehead area: last 30 days minimum.
- Chemical peels, laser, microneedling, RF or IPL on the area: last 4 weeks minimum.
- Active acids on the brow area (AHA, BHA, glycolic, salicylic): last 2 weeks.
- Sun exposure, sunburn or fresh tan on the area: avoid for 2 weeks before.
7. Contraindications
Some conditions make PMU unsafe or unpredictable. The lists below are non-exhaustive — every case is assessed individually and may require written clearance from your treating doctor.
- Absolute (we cannot treat): pregnancy and breastfeeding; active oncology treatment; haemophilia or any bleeding/coagulation disorder; uncontrolled HIV, active hepatitis B/C; active skin cancer in the brow area; predisposition to keloid scarring; active herpes, impetigo or any infection in the area; recent organ transplant or active immunosuppression; confirmed allergy to anaesthetics (lidocaine), pigments, latex or metals.
- Relative (case by case, doctor's clearance may be required): diabetes (especially uncontrolled); uncontrolled hypertension; thyroid disorders (Hashimoto, Graves, hypo- or hyperthyroidism); autoimmune disease (lupus, MS, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, vitiligo); active dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis or rosacea (especially in the brow area); pacemaker or implanted electronic device; epilepsy; ongoing anticoagulant therapy; history of allergic reactions to cosmetic tattoo or hair dye; recent or planned facial surgery.
- Patch test: a patch test can be arranged on request, particularly if you have a history of allergic reactions or sensitive skin. Please be aware that a patch test cannot guarantee the absence of an allergic reaction during the actual treatment — pigment quantity, the specific combination of pigments and the trauma to the skin during a real session are different from a small spot test, and reactions can still occur.
8. Healing timeline — what to expect
Brows do not heal in a straight line. Day 0–3: colour appears 40–50% darker and bolder than the final result, with mild swelling — plan the session for days without important events. Day 3–7: light scabbing and flaking. Day 7–14: patchy phase, because skin cell turnover is faster in some areas than others. Day 14–28: ghosting phase, the brow may look almost faded as the new skin layer settles. Week 4–6: pigment fully stabilised — this is the sweet spot for the perfecting touch-up.
Compared to day 0, expect the final brow to be approximately 40–60% lighter in tone and 10–15% finer in width. This is normal pigment behaviour and is built into the design we draw on day 0.
9. Aftercare protocol
Roughly 70% of the final result depends on aftercare at home. Each client receives a premium PhiAcademy aftercare kit and detailed verbal and written instructions. Failure to follow the protocol can compromise pigment retention, and Browboutique cannot be held responsible for poor healing caused by it.
- First 7 days: no water on the brows (no shower water, sweat, sea, pool, sauna, steam).
- First 14 days: no makeup, no active skincare on the area (no retinol, acids, exfoliants), no sun, no tanning bed, no intense sport. Do not pick, scratch or peel scabs.
- Sleep on your back when possible; avoid pets sleeping on your face and dusty environments.
- From day 14 for life: SPF 50 on the brows whenever exposed to sunlight — UV is the biggest cause of pigment fading and unwanted colour shifts.
- Avoid retinol and chemical peels directly on the brow area long-term — they fade pigment prematurely.
- Tweeze stray hairs OUTSIDE the designed shape only, never inside.
10. Hygiene & materials
Hygiene is the most important safety protocol in PMU. Every Browboutique session is performed to medical-grade hygiene standards. During your appointment you will see, in front of you: single-use sterile tools (needles, blades, pigment caps) opened from sealed packaging; non-disposable instruments sterilised in autoclave between sessions; workstation fully sanitised before and after; EU-compliant pigments from regulated PhiBrows / PMU brands within shelf-life; single-use protective barriers on every touched surface; disposable gloves changed between every step.
11. Suitability & honest assessment
Every appointment begins with an honest skin and brow assessment. If a chosen technique is not the best fit for the client's skin, alternative techniques will be recommended. In rare cases, treatment may be declined for technical or skin-quality reasons; in such cases the deposit is fully refunded.
12. Results & expectations
PMU is a semi-permanent, hand-crafted technique. Results vary depending on skin type, lifestyle, age and pigment metabolism. Brow shape and colour are designed together with the client during the appointment, but minor asymmetries inherent to the human face are normal and not considered a defect.
Photos shown on this site and on social media are real client work; results on different skin types may differ.
13. Communication
All bookings, consultations, rescheduling and questions are handled by email at sabrina@browboutique.pt. WhatsApp is not used for client communication. Replies are usually within 48 working hours.
14. Privacy
Personal data collected through the booking form, email and consultation forms is used exclusively to manage your appointment, send aftercare information and comply with health-record obligations. Data is never shared with third parties for commercial purposes.
Before-and-after photos are always taken for clinical records. Any publication on social media or marketing material shows only close-up details of the eye and brow area. The full face is never published unless you give explicit consent.
15. Acceptance & medical disclaimer
Placing a deposit and/or attending an appointment at Browboutique constitutes full acceptance of these terms, the medical declarations, the contraindication list and the aftercare protocol set out on this page. Browboutique reserves the right to update these terms; the version in force is the one published on the date of booking.
